Alright, so I’ve been messing around with this CopyOMEGA Ω Speedmaster Apollo 8 “Dark Side of the Moon” watch for a while now. It’s a pretty cool piece, and I wanted to share my little journey with it.
First off, I started by just wearing the thing. You know, getting a feel for it on my wrist. It’s got some weight to it, but not in a bad way. Feels solid, like it could take a beating. And let me tell you, it looks sharp. That black bezel really pops, and it’s got this “tachymetric scale” thing on it that I’m still trying to figure out. I guess it’s for measuring speed or something, but I just think it looks cool.
Then I started digging into what makes this watch tick, literally. I’m no watchmaker, but I popped off the back to take a peek inside. Found this reference number inside the case, I think it was 145.012. The movement’s got a serial number on it too, eight digits long. It was kind of tricky to locate it, but I used a magnifying glass and some good lighting. I wrote both numbers down, just in case.

Next, I tried to figure out if this thing is the real deal or not. I mean, it’s a copy, so I wasn’t expecting much, but you never know. From what I gathered online, you can sometimes tell a fake by how the little dials on the face are spaced out. This one seems alright in that department. Also, the markings on that tachymeter scale are supposed to be pretty sharp and line up perfectly with the dial. Again, this one seems okay.
Comparing
I even tried comparing it to some pictures of real Speedmasters online. Hard to say for sure, but it holds up pretty well. The case and bracelet feel high-quality, too. Not cheap or flimsy at all.
Now, I know this watch has some history behind it. Apparently, the real version of this was worn by astronauts on the moon. That’s pretty wild if you ask me. This copy might not have been to the moon, but it still feels like a little piece of history on my wrist.
So, after all this messing around, what’s the verdict? Well, I like it. It’s a good-looking watch that feels well-made. And it’s got a cool story behind it, even if it’s just a copy. If you’re looking for something different, something that stands out, this might be worth checking out.
