Okay, so, I went and did a thing today. I finally pulled the trigger on that CopyOMEGA Ω Speedmaster Apollo 8 “Dark Side of the Moon” watch. You know, the one I’ve been eyeing for, like, forever?
First off, I hit up a few different places. I wanted to see them in person, feel them on my wrist, you know? I mean, it’s a big watch, 44.25mm, so it’s not exactly subtle. It’s def got some weight to it, which I like. Makes it feel substantial, like a real piece of machinery.
The Shopping Around
- First stop, the local place. They had one, but honestly, the sales guy was kind of a jerk. Didn’t really seem to know much about it, and kept pushing me towards some other watch that I wasn’t interested in.
- Next up, the mall. Bigger store, more selection. They had the Apollo 8, and the sales guy there was way better. He actually knew his stuff, told me about the history of the watch, the whole Apollo 8 mission, all that. It was cool, he actually made me want it even more.
- Finally, I went to this little independent place, kind of tucked away. It was great! The guy was really friendly, I even got the impression they were some sort of expert.
After that I just went straight back to the mall and finally bought it. The staff were just so much more helpful and I didn’t want to risk not getting it!
The Watch Itself
Now, about the watch. It’s called the “Dark Side of the Moon,” which, yeah, is a mouthful. But it’s pretty accurate, I gotta say. The whole thing is this dark, almost black, ceramic. And the dial, oh man, the dial. It’s skeletonized, which means you can see all the inner workings. And they’ve made it look like the surface of the moon. It’s crazy detailed. Like, you can almost see the little craters and everything. I spent a good hour just staring at it after I bought it.
Final Thoughts
So, yeah, I dropped a chunk of change on this thing. But honestly, I don’t regret it. It’s more than just a watch. It’s like wearing a piece of history on your wrist. Plus, it just looks damn cool. I can’t wait to show it off to my buddies. They’re gonna be so jealous!
I’m planning on wearing it most days. To work, out to dinner, whatever. I mean, I didn’t buy it to just sit in a box, right? It’s meant to be worn and enjoyed. Anyway I just thought I’d tell everyone about it because I’m so excited!
