Alright, so, I’ve been eyeballing this OMEGA Speedmaster Super Racing watch for a while now. I mean, who wouldn’t? It’s a beauty! Finally, I decided to pull the trigger and get my hands on it.
First off, let me tell you, this isn’t just any watch. It’s the Speedmaster Super Racing, and it’s got some serious tech under the hood. I started by doing what any sane person would do – hit up the internet! I mean, I’ve read like a million websites about this watch.
This baby’s got the Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 9920. Sounds fancy, right? Well, it is. It’s like the engine of a supercar but for your wrist.
- Size and Build:
- I measured it – 44.25 mm across and about 14.9 mm thick. Feels solid, you know? It’s stainless steel, so it’s got some weight, but in a good way. And it can handle being underwater up to 50 meters. Not that I’m planning any deep dives, but it’s nice to know I could.
- Dial:
- Oh man, the dial! It’s black, but like, a special kind of black. They call it a “sandwich dial” with this honeycomb pattern. It is like something special. It’s also a nod to the Aqua Terra 15,000 Gauss, which is like, its older cousin or something, because it was its 10-year anniversary in 2023.
- The Tech Inside:
- It has this new Spirate™ System inside. It released in 2023, and from what I gather, it makes the watch super accurate. Like, crazy accurate.
So, I went to a department store that had an Omega boutique inside. The good thing is, tourists can get a tax refund and an extra 5% off. You know I did this! Score! With the exchange rate and all, it felt like I was getting a steal. And man, the price of these things! I heard about a 1957 Speedmaster that sold for $3.4 million. Mine wasn’t that much, thank goodness, but it’s still a serious chunk of change.
I tried it on, walked around the store, felt like a million bucks, even though I definitely didn’t spend that much. I kept checking myself out in the mirror. I mean, wouldn’t you?
I also did some digging on those ‘Zwei Zhler – Super Racing’ watches. That’s some high-end stuff, man. The craftsmanship on those things is insane.
Finally, after much deliberation (and maybe a little bit of sweating), I bought it. Now, it’s sitting pretty on my wrist, and I can’t stop looking at it. It’s not just a watch, it’s like a piece of history, a piece of art, and a piece of super cool technology all rolled into one. Plus, it makes me feel like a total boss. Best decision ever.
