Okay, so, a while back, I got this idea to recreate a Fendi Brown Zucchino Mama Forever Baguette Shoulder Bag, you know, the original order. I have always loved this bag, but the real ones are pretty pricey, so I thought, why not try to make one myself?
First, I spent some time looking up the details of the bag. The Fendi Baguette is a classic, especially the Zucchino style. It became super popular after “Sex and the City” made it a thing. The bag was designed in 1997 by Silvia Venturini Fendi and has been a big deal for Fendi ever since.
Gathering Materials
I started by gathering all the materials. The original bag is made from this Fendi Zucca canvas in tobacco brown, so I needed to find something similar.
- I looked around for a good quality canvas that had a similar pattern and color.
- I also needed chocolate brown leather for the strap and the flap.
- The iconic Fendi FF logo was a must-have, so I searched for a replica or something I could craft myself.
- Finding the right hardware was also a challenge. I needed some buckles and clasps that looked like the original.
Crafting the Bag
Once I had all the materials, I began working on the bag. I started with the body, cutting the canvas to the right size and shape. It wasn’t easy getting the dimensions just right, but after a few tries, I got it. Then, I sewed the canvas pieces together. This took some time because I wanted it to be sturdy and look professional.
Next, I worked on the leather parts. I cut and shaped the chocolate brown leather for the strap and the front flap. The strap needed to be adjustable, so I had to figure out how to attach the buckles. I did some trial and error here, but I finally got it to work.
The flap was another tricky part. I wanted it to have that signature Fendi look, so I spent a lot of time shaping it and making sure it fit perfectly over the bag’s opening. Attaching the FF logo was also a delicate process. I had to make sure it was centered and secure.
Finishing Touches
After assembling the main parts, I added the lining. The inside of the original bag is lined with brown fabric, so I used a similar material. Sewing the lining was a bit challenging because I had to make sure it fit snugly inside the bag without any wrinkles.
The hardware was the last step. I attached all the buckles and clasps, making sure they were functional and looked good. This was a bit fiddly, but it was worth it to get the bag looking authentic.
After all that work, I finally finished my Fendi Brown Zucchino Mama Forever Baguette Shoulder Bag. It was a lot of effort, but I was really happy with how it turned out. It looked pretty close to the original, and I saved a ton of money by making it myself.
