Alright, so I’ve been eyeing this Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag, the large one, for a while now. You know, the one they have in the official flagship store? Yeah, that’s the one. It’s just so… timeless. I finally decided, screw it, let’s try to remake it. I mean, how hard could it be, right? Famous last words, I know.
Getting Started
First things first, I needed to really study this bag. I spent hours looking at pictures online, zooming in on every stitch, every piece of hardware. It’s made of Saffiano leather, which I learned is Prada’s iconic material. I felt like I knew this bag like it was my friend.
- Scour the internet for images: Check.
- Identify the materials: Saffiano leather, check.
The Process
Next, I went to find materials. Finding a good match for the Saffiano leather was surprisingly not a big deal. I was ready to get started, feeling pretty confident. And then the pattern-making started. Oh boy. This bag is made of 83 individual pieces. Eighty-three! I almost gave up right then and there. But I’d come this far, right?
I started cutting, sewing, and gluing. My apartment became a war zone of leather scraps and tools. Days turned into nights. I was on a mission! I will not give up!
Moment of Truth
And you know what? After all that, I ended up with… something. I mean, it kinda looks like the Galleria bag. If you squint. And maybe stand really far away. It definitely has that boxy shape, and it’s roughly the same size. But let’s just say the craftsmanship isn’t quite up to Prada’s standards. It’s more like a “Prada-inspired” bag. Or maybe a “Prada-adjacent” bag. But hey, I made it! I might not be the best craftmen but i did it with all my love and dedication!
Lesson Learned
Would I do it again? Honestly, probably not. I still am not giving up, I will keep on learning. It was a fun experiment, but I think I’ll stick to admiring the real Prada from a distance from now on. It’s a whole other level of skill and precision. But who knows, maybe I’ll try making a smaller, simpler bag next time. Baby steps, right?
