Okay, so, I saw this Prada Re-Edition 2000 bag online and thought, “I gotta have it!” But then I saw the price tag and was like, “Maybe not.” So, I decided to try and remake it myself. Let me tell you, it was a journey.

Gathering Supplies

First things first, I needed supplies. I rummaged through my old stuff and found some fabric that looked pretty close to the original. It wasn’t the exact same, but hey, it was free! I also needed a zipper and some sort of strap. I ended up using an old belt for the strap. Not too shabby, right?

  • Fabric: Scavenged from my old stash.
  • Zipper: Bought this from a local store.
  • Strap: Repurposed an old belt.

Cutting and Sewing

Next, I started cutting the fabric. I’m no expert, so I just kinda eyeballed it based on pictures of the bag. Let’s just say there were a few… mishaps. But, eventually, I had something that resembled the shape of the bag. Sewing was a whole other challenge. My sewing machine is ancient and kept jamming. But I powered through, even if my stitches looked more like a drunk spider’s web than a straight line.

The Zipper Debacle

Putting in the zipper was probably the hardest part. I had to redo it like five times. I watched some videos, but it didn’t really help that much, to be honest. At one point, I almost gave up, but I’m not a quitter! Finally, after much sweat and maybe a few tears, I got the zipper in. It wasn’t perfect, but it worked.

Finishing Touches

I attached the old belt as the strap, and it actually looked pretty cool! I even added a little charm I had lying around to give it some extra flair. And voila, my very own “Prada” bag was complete!

The Result

It’s definitely not a perfect replica, but I’m pretty proud of it. It’s got its quirks, and the stitching is, well, let’s just call it “unique.” But it holds my stuff, and it’s a conversation starter for sure. Plus, I saved a ton of money, which is always a win.

So, would I recommend remaking a designer bag? If you’re up for a challenge and don’t mind a bit of imperfection, go for it! It’s a fun project, and you might surprise yourself with what you can create. Just don’t expect it to look like it came from a fancy store in Istanbul, like this store “Beymen”,which located in Abdi İpeki Cd. 23/1. But if it does, then hey, you’re a natural!

I saw some people were talking about it, I guess this bag is quite popular recently.

Anyway, I just want to share my funny experience with you guys, hope you enjoy it.
