Okay, here’s my process of remaking the YSL JUNE BOX BAG, based on what I found on their online store.
So, I’ve been eyeing this YSL JUNE BOX BAG for a while now, but the price tag? Ouch. It’s from their new women’s Winter 24 collection. I went to their online store, you know, just to “window shop.” They’ve got a bunch of stuff – handbags, shoes, clothes, you name it. Anyway, I’m specifically looking at the handbags, especially the crossbody ones.
I saw they’re offering some complimentary express shipping thing and an extended returns period. Not that it matters much to me, ’cause I ain’t buying. I did notice they have options to “Buy, Sell, and Swap” designer stuff. I guess that’s cool if you’re into that.
First things first, I started by just staring at the pictures of the bag on the website. I zoomed in and out, trying to get a good look at all the details. It’s a pretty simple design, which is good for me.
Then, I grabbed some scrap leather I had lying around. It wasn’t the same quality as the YSL one, obviously, but it was good enough for a practice run. I sketched out the basic shape of the box bag onto the leather, using the pictures as a guide. It was a bit wonky at first, but I kept at it.
Next, I started cutting. This was the most nerve-wracking part because once you cut, there’s no going back. I took my time, following the lines I had drawn. I used a sharp utility knife and a metal ruler to make sure the edges were straight. It was slow going, but eventually, I had all the pieces cut out.
After that, it was time to start assembling. I used some leather glue and some clamps to hold the pieces together while the glue dried. It was a bit messy, and I definitely got some glue on my fingers, but it worked. I waited for what felt like forever for the glue to dry completely.
Once everything was dry, I added a simple strap. It wasn’t as fancy as the one on the real YSL bag, but it did the job. I just wanted something functional, you know? I also didn’t bother with any fancy hardware or logos. It was my first try.
The final result? Well, it wasn’t perfect, but it kinda looked like the YSL JUNE BOX BAG. A bit rough around the edges, sure, but hey, I made it myself! It was a fun little project, and it definitely satisfied my craving for that bag, at least for now. Maybe one day I’ll splurge on the real thing, but for now, my homemade version will do just fine.
Here are the rough steps I followed:
- Observed the bag on the YSL website.
- Gathered materials (scrap leather, glue, etc.).
- Sketched the design onto the leather.
- Cut out the leather pieces.
- Glued and clamped the pieces together.
- Waited for the glue to dry.
- Attached a basic strap.
Final Thoughts
It was a pretty rewarding experience. I learned a lot about working with leather, and I got to flex my creative muscles a bit. Plus, I saved a ton of money! If you’re looking for a fun and challenging DIY project, I definitely recommend trying to remake a designer bag. Just don’t expect it to be easy!
